SAMS Sept 2012

THE SAMS CAPTAINS CORNER

This week, the wonderful world of SAMS was sponsored by Lazzara Leicher Inc.

So many of the SAM’sters got their weekends mixed up and played proper golf this Saturday, one week after major, Swing for Spring. As there were a total of thirteen players with nett under par. One of those players was Ray Coole.

Ray came up to the SAMS captains and asked them to promote the Rhodesian Ridgeback Rescue calendar that he is selling with proceeds going to the rescue program. If anyone would like one of these beautiful calendars, please speak to Ray. Another one of the subpar players was Rob Ferguson. Rob on the other hand walked away with the Itec Converge sponsored Johnnie Walker Black for the best net, shooting a net 66. Terry Bates was extremely unfortunate as he also shot a net 66 but was counted out for the Johnnie. Better luck next time Terry.

The POW for prize giving went to Angus Murray after trying very hard to win the double header of that and the Angus Murray Award. However, after several players informed the SAMS captains that the AMA should be given to Clive McKenzie for his outbursts on the course.

Another welcome back on the course after a long leave of absence was Don Gallimore, unfortunately, Don was in the 80’s club but we were all very glad to see him back just before his 80th birthday. As Don will not be at the club this coming weekend, something about partying it up, he decided to ring the bell to start the celebrations early. The winners for the day taking home the great Lazzara Leicher hamper were Barry Scott-Brown, Johnny Aucamp, Rob Ferguson and the ghost of Mike Lawrenson. Mike gave the three ball the 3 points that they needed to take 1st. We hope a thank you drink was bought Mike.

While the SAMS captains were enjoying their drink on Don, they decided to try out the new pub lunch on offer. Certain meals are available which are promised to be served within 8 minutes or the meal is free. All in all, another great day at The Wanderers was had by all. See you this weekend on the course.

Regards,
The SAMS Captains
