Bobs for Good .....

Sunday, 27 March 2011

Extract from Lenn Flanagan's weekly newsletter:

Bobs For Good....
Last week Friday, we hosted a very unusual yet very exciting golf day at the club. Bobs for Good, a charity organisation, spearheaded by Bobby Skinstad and supported by Old Mutual, raise funds and distribute school shoes to the underprivileged school children around South Africa.

As the golf day was in aid of raising funds for school shoes, the golfers had to tee off from the 1st and 10th tees barefoot and they could then continue to play in their golf shoes. However, the majority of the golfers opted to play their entire round barefoot and judging by the scores, they were not too negatively affected by being shoeless.

Unfortunately Bobby had to get back to the Cape, returning on Saturday to commentate on the Bulls Stormers game. Bobs For Good....

Unfortunately Bobby had to get back to the Cape, returning on Saturday to commentate on the Bulls Stormers game. Pictured (in Lenn's newsletter) are the only 2 Stormers supporters I know of at the club and in Bobby's own word to Gavin, "Tomorrow I fly back to loftus where we will snatch the points and run back to Cape Town."

Well we all know the result and well done to the Stormers, apparently this will be a big year for Springbok rugby as the other chirp I have heard was something like, “When Province rugby is down, Springbok rugby is down.." or something to that effect.

Thank you Lenn for this interesting information.
