Ladies action Sept/October 2016

The past two months for the ladies section have been packed with fun! Friday 9 September was the annual Spring Day competition. We had a great turnout and splendid spring weather. The competition format was 2 scores to count with two mystery holes.  Runners up with 91 points: Barbara Wood, Annette Lawson, Marilyn Simpson and Cheryl Burgess Winners with 96 points: Jenny Gordon, Pam Hoffman, Consiglia Emmett and Sue Osborne. Many thanks to Linda for supplying the most gorgeous bunches of flowers for the prizes. Tuesday 20 September was the annual Caddy / Ladies golf day. Each caddy is paired with a lady and they play an alliance format. The game is followed by lunch and prizegiving. This year we had 20 ladies and 20 caddies. Swing for Spring 2016

WANDERERS LADIES AND MIXED CHARITY DAYS The Ladies Section, under the watchful guidance of Nicky O'Mahony, organised two very successful charity days in July. The funds raised from the events will be sent to various charities including the Alexandra Education Committee. Thank you to all the members and sponsors for their generous support in both sponsorship and playing. Your support in this event is greatly appreciated. The main raffle prize - Netspresso Coffee machine was won by Pam Spencer so if you need a cuppa coffee you know where to go! Jane Marshall won the silver bracelet as section prize. Hollow tining April 2016

  Hollow tining will take place on Monday the 18th and Tuesday the 19th of April and the course will be closed. We will be open for golf again on the 20th. In preparation for our greens, going into winter we will be using a new machine called The Air2g2. The Air 2G2 is a self-propelled hydrostatic drive three probe air injection machine, injecting compressed air either 7” or 12” deep. This causes a fracturing effect of the compacted root zone, with no surface disruption. Air is injected vertically and horizontally over an area of 5ft (1.5m) to 12” (30cms) deep. We will be using this new process instead of hollow tining for the up and coming winter treatment. The Air2G2 process mean that we will have limited disruption to our greens and we will be able to play immediately after the process as opposed to waiting 2 weeks for…
