Mike Roe off to the coast

Tuesday, 12 April 2011
Farewell Mike Roe. As we do when we reach retirement, we find ourselves settling down at the coast. With that, we do however have to bid farewell to our friends and clubs. Mike Roe will be leaving us and retiring to the coast, we wish Mike and Wendy a very happy retirement and look forward to you visiting us when you are in JHB. Mike has been a very active member of the Wanderers Golf Club, having represented the club in league and then managing our league teams, Mike has always been a stalwart member at the Wanderers and will be sorely missed. (Thank you Lenn)
A Career first for Brothers Ronald and Simon Woolf... After all their years of playing golf together, last week Wednesday Ronald and Simon were treated to their first ever game of golf with sister Harrianne. Harrianne has recently started taking lessons with Gavin and as she has been a very diligent student, within a very short period of time Harrianne was able to join her brothers for a round of 9 holes. We wish Harrianne all the best with her golf game and look forward to her getting out on the course more often and taking some cash from her brothers soon. (Thank you Lenn)
The Wanderers Golf Club Service Excellence Champions of March 2011.Course winner: Lucky Mbulaheni – who kept the clubs irrigation system running as we experienced numerous broken pipes.Clubhouse winners: Joseph Mahlali, Abel Madimetja, Victor Thusi, David Gcabashe – who did an amazing job with all the function catering and their first month without Zingra. Well done to all our staff, March was a great month and great to see that everything ran so smoothly. (Thank you Lenn)

Rain on Wanderers golf course

Tuesday, 29 March 2011
Friday 25th of March 2011 caused much consternation amongst our devout SAMS (Saturday AM) golfers - the Wanderers Golf Course was drenched with 82mm of rain. Fortunately, since there was no overnight rain the players were able to participate in the annual St Patrick's day tournament. Thank you to Lenn Flanagan for the photographs.
9 Hole Scores – Compulsory To EnterPlease note that the handicap system has been changed to accept 9 hole scores. Please ensure that you enter your score after any 9 hole round. Should you not then you run the risk of being penalised as you would on an 18 hole score.

Bobs for Good .....

Sunday, 27 March 2011
Extract from Lenn Flanagan's weekly newsletter: Bobs For Good....Last week Friday, we hosted a very unusual yet very exciting golf day at the club. Bobs for Good, a charity organisation, spearheaded by Bobby Skinstad and supported by Old Mutual, raise funds and distribute school shoes to the underprivileged school children around South Africa. As the golf day was in aid of raising funds for school shoes, the golfers had to tee off from the 1st and 10th tees barefoot and they could then continue to play in their golf shoes. However, the majority of the golfers opted to play their entire round barefoot and judging by the scores, they were not too negatively affected by being shoeless. Unfortunately Bobby had to get back to the Cape, returning on Saturday to commentate on the Bulls Stormers game. Bobs For Good....Last week Friday, we hosted a very unusual yet very exciting golf…
