Santam Club Day 2011

Friday, 04 November 2011
Santam Club Day 2011 Once again, we were all very privileged to have been able to play in the Santam Club Day this year, not only did the weather play its part, but the entire day was a huge success. Great golf was played and the field ran incredibly smoothly, the back of the field played both rounds of golf in under 4 and ½ hours per round. This was to me one of the highlights of the day, for the field to run well, everyone needs to buy in to the process and in doing so, everyone who played in the event, had a better experience overall. Dinner and prize giving started immediately after the Currie Cup Final, after such an awesome game of rugby in which the Lions absolutely annihilated the Sharks, everyone was in the right frame of mind to kick on and enjoy an unbelievable evening…

Heimie and Rachel's new family This past week we have been blessed with the birth of 9 Cygnets, they were born on Saturday and Sunday and have already enjoyed their first swim on the 11th dam. As they are still very young and fragile, both mom and dad are very protective over their little ones and as such will defend them and can cause some serious harm to you should you get too close. We urge you to please keep away from the new family and to respect their space, we are also of the opinion that should we pressurize them too much then they are forced to keep moving the Cygnets around and not necessarily to the safer parts of the golf course thus creating a possible danger to the little guys. Please take care when playing as the swans are now all over the course and can at…

Ladies win again !!

Friday, 28 October 2011
CONGRATULATIONS LADIES Sunday 21 October was the annual clash of the Ladies vs Men. It was a stunning day to go out and do battle. We had a field of around 60 players and the talk around the greens was that the men did not have a chance, so perhaps they entered the battlefield a little deflated. Well the talk was 100% correct – Congratulations to the ladies for winning the event 527 to 493 to retain the trophy. The winning ladies were Dom Wood and Ginny Schoombie on 46 points followed by Sue Osborne and Sharon Botha on 45 points. The winning men were Colin Cameron and Steve Simpson on 44 points followed by Chris Leicher and Lenn Flanagan on 41. A special thanks to the men’s section for sharing the cost of the prizes and for entering the comp in such good spirits.
